hello!

Welcome to Halley’s Home Haven! My name is Halley and I’m so glad you’re here.

Food has always been a comfort of mine ever since I can remember. I love food and eating with the ones I love. It’s easy for me to say that cooking is absolutely my love language! It’s how I best show my love and appreciation. There’s not much in this world that brings me greater joy than cooking delicious home cooked meals for my family and filling their bellies with all their favorite foods.

How my story began

I remember my love for cooking started way back in high school. I would always find myself flipping through glossy cookbook pages, obsessed and getting constant inspiration for the next thing I wanted to cook or bake.

I’ll be the first to admit that when I first started cooking I had no idea what I was doing. I learned as I went, teaching myself how to do things from cookbooks and with the help of the internet.

I remember early on in my cooking journey, there were a lot more flops than there were wins! I’m a determined person and I really wanted to become the best I knew that I could be. Along the way, through trial and error, I’ve learned a lot from my mistakes.

Right after I graduated from high school, I got my first job working in food service. I worked quite a few positions and it taught me that I wasn’t a fan of working in a quick paced atmosphere.

Although, I did meet my husband working there so I would have to say that was a bonus!

I ended up quitting the food service job and started working in an office setting. I didn’t mind the comfort of routine, but I still knew deep down it wasn’t the job for me either.

When I was pregnant with my second child, my husband and I came to an agreement that I should quit the office job to do what I really always wanted to do. Be a stay at home mom!

I love doing things that fill me with joy throughout the day. It ultimately led me to creating this blog, which has been the best creative outlet and a dream come true!

Over the years, I’ve created my own personal cookbook in an overstuffed 3-ring binder that sits on my bookshelf with the many other cookbooks I own.

Inside is a large collection of all my family favorite recipes. Over time, I’ve made so many tweaks to these recipes, playing around with the ingredients and measurements to perfect each and every one of them. I reach for it almost everyday, even though you can find all of these recipes on my blog.

With that being said, feel free to take a look around! No matter what diet you follow, there is something for everybody here. I hope you and your family love these recipes just as much as mine does!
